New administration, new leadership, new year, and a new you.

With the new year, we have a new ACT President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, Trustees, and new web staff. This new year, we at ACT plan on being more active in our community and in surrounding areas as well. We will be more active in supporting our fellow humans, and continue to do so regardless of their status as a believer or non-believer alike. With the impending uncertainty of the new elected officials of the United States, we must be ready for expected coming challenges. We are not alone. As secularists, we must protect our ecosystem, since we are as bound to it as it is bound to us. We must continue to provide aid to those in need and give others a sense of hope in which, even in troubled times, they may discover that they can rely on their fellow humans. We are a community based not on a shared disbelief; we instead come together with a common set of values: logic, reason, and compassion. These are the things that carry us into the future.

ACT Day Center for the Homeless Food Fundraiser

Tulsa Day Center for the Homeless Food Fundraiser

Once again this year the Atheist Community of Tulsa will provide healthy hot meals for many of our city's homeless. Last year we served nearly one thousand of our less fortunate neighbors. You have the opportunity to help out. A commercial kitchen has been donated and some volunteers have signed up (though we can always use more hands). All we need now is the food.

So we hereby announce the ACT Day Center for the Homeless Food Fundraiser! This is a 30 day event where we, as a group, come together to celebrate compassion and empathy. We're shooting for $1000 as each meal costs around $250-300. If every member of ACT put $20 in the bucket, we'll have far more than that.

There is no minimum donation. If what you can afford is $1, then you can donate $1 and know that you did all you could to help out. If you can do more, then, well, let's just say we hope you'll do the best you can.

Thanks so much for helping us prove that we can be good without gods, but more importantly, thanks for helping some hungry neighbors have a great meal!

Seth Andrews (Host of The Thinking Atheist) Book Signing and Social Event

We are proud to invite our members and friends to a Book Signing/Meet and Greet for Seth Andrews, author of “De-Converted – A Journey from Religion to Reason."

A Christian of 30 years and former religious broadcaster, Seth ultimately found himself dissatisfied with the explanations and doctrines of scripture and the church. His search for answers led him to reject Christianity and all other religions, and he now hosts one of the largest online atheist communities in the world, “The Thinking Atheist." His website, videos and weekly radio podcasts encourage theists and non-theists alike to engage their minds, to embrace doubt, to question, to challenge, and to always be "thinking."

Please join us for the special event, which is free and open to the public. Saturday, February 16th, 1:00 - 3:30 p.m. McNellie's Pub, 409 East 1st Street, Tulsa. 2nd Floor. Open bar. All ages welcome.
